Sandpoint

Named the nation's "Most Beautiful Small Town" by Rand McNally and USA Today, charming Sandpoint, Idaho beckons. A friendly community where strangers still greet each other with a smile, Sandpoint is perched on the shores of Lake Pend Oreille and nestled at the base of Schweitzer Mountain. Surrounded by three mountain ranges, and upon the shores of Idaho's largest lake, outdoor recreation and natural beauty abound. The town itself is a quaint walking town with a thriving arts community, unique shops, and fine dining. The area is truly a haven for the arts and outdoor recreation.

Sandpoint, Idaho is home to, and nearby, an amazing array of attractions. Approximately 75 miles northeast of Spokane, Washington, and 60 miles south of the Canadian border, Sandpoint is a stop on the Interntional Selkirk Loop and two national scenic byways; Wild Horse Trail and Pend Oreille Scenic Byway. Surrounded by Montana's Cabinet Mountains to the east and the Selkirk Mountains to the northwest, Sandpoint is also home to Idaho's largest ski resort on Schweitzer Mountain. The town is home to the historic Panida Theater, offering a full schedule of events for all seasons. From Lost in the 50's every May, to the incredible annual music festival, "The Festival at Sandpoint", every August, there is always something special on the calendar. For those seeking to commune with nature, kayaking the shores of Lake Pend Oreille, hiking, snowshoeing, or mountain biking up Trail 3 for a territorial view, or swooshing down the slopes at Schweitzer, are just a sampling of the activities you can enjoy on your Sandpoint, Idaho vacation. Bonners Ferry

Located in the heart of the Kootenai River Valley, the town of Bonners Ferry serves as a picturesque international gateway to Idaho and hosts visitors from around the world. Surrounded by three mountain ranges, abundant outdoor recreation is just steps away.

While in town, enjoy the charm of its old-fashioned downtown filled with unique shops, as well as delicious eateries and hometown brewery.

Coeur d'Alene

Surrounded by towering mountains, thick with pines and huckleberry bushes and crisscrossed with trails waiting to be explored, Wallace's warm and friendly residents are proud to welcome visitors to our historic silver mining town. You're invited to tap into a motherlode of historic attractions that will captivate your imagination, thrill your senses, and transport you back to the days of the wild West – which lasted much longer around Wallace than most places! Enjoy truly unique museums and historical sites that tell the stories of the railroaders, miners, working class heroes, and even "working girls" that carved this gem of a town from Idaho's beautiful Bitterroot Mountains.

Fun Fact – Wallace, Idaho is one of only four cities in the United States that is entirely listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Post Falls

Surrounded by gorgeous mountains and forests of ponderosa pine, and lying beside the dramatic Spokane River, the town of Post Falls, Idaho, welcomes you! An authentic mill town, adjacent to the cascading falls along the Spokane River gorge and nestled along the Centennial Trail. With its breathtaking natural beauty and a rich history, Post Falls is gateway for your North Idaho journey. You will find many abundant natural parks which feature hiking, swimming, boating and even professional rock climbing. Post Falls provides prime lodging, fine dining, premier golfing, antique shopping, and a host of nearby attractions including the home of Buck Knives and a Cabelas destination store. Bounded by Coeur d'Alene to the east, the state of Washington to the west, the Spokane River to the south and the Rathdrum prairie to the north, Post Falls is the western gateway to Idaho for travelers along Interstate 90.

Athol

With a name like Athol, it's gotta be good! But wait, it gets better. Log Spirit B & B claims a "Tiara Lane" address. How's that for classy? And Cedar Mountain Farm B & B is off of "Bunco" Road (oh, boy!), on a private lane, Hatch Road, named for the hosts parents, Wes and Meg Hatch.

Favorite haunts in the Athol area? Silverwood Theme Park and Boulder Beach Waterpark opens weekends in May, then full time from Memorial Day through Labor Day. September weekends offer a fun fall activity, followed by Scarywood Thursday through Saturday evenings in October.

Farragut State Park offers camping, water activities on our large, deep Pend Orielle Lake, and hiking and biking galore. A favorite Idaho park, visitors flock to stay there, so if camping entices you, make your reservations early.

The town of Athol boasts stores, gas, car repair, tires, beauty shops, churches, schools, and most other small town essentials. Bayview is nestled on the shore of Lake Pend Orielle and has a grand summer fireworks display as well as a famous garage sale. The Bayview Community Center makes a great rental for events.
